Who is Mini Mannequins?
Hello my name is Janet Harmsworth and I have been making and dressing
dolls house dolls under the Mini Mannequins name for more than twenty years.
What do you make?
My porcelain dolls are hand made and painted by me.
They are poured from liquid porcelain slip into plaster molds, the resulting casting is then kiln fired
several times to very high temperatures to produce a porcelain doll.
The dolls faces are then hand painted with china paint and again fired in the kiln.
In all each doll will go through as many as 6 kiln firings before being ready to be assembled and dressed.
As you can see this is not a quick process.
More about your dolls
All my dolls and doll kits are 1:12th scale or 1 inch to a foot.
Ladies are generally five and a half inches tall (14cm),
Men six inches (15.3cm), and Children 3 to 4½ inches (7.5 - 11.5cm).
Each dressed doll is individually created and no two are ever exactly the same.
I use the finest silks, cottons, laces, ribbons and specialty trimmings to costume my dolls.
I dress dolls from all periods in history up to and including the present day.
